Biophytis S.A. operates as a clinical-stage biotechnology firm dedicated to advancing therapeutic solutions aimed at decelerating degenerative processes and enhancing functional outcomes for individuals grappling with age-related illnesses. These therapies function by targeting and stimulating critical biological resilience pathways, which are designed to offer protection against and counteract the detrimental effects of various biological and environmental stressors contributing to age-associated pathologies. The company's flagship pharmaceutical candidate is Sarconeos (BIO101), an orally administered small molecule currently under development for addressing a spectrum of neuromuscular conditions, notably sarcopenia and Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). Additionally, it is progressing through a Phase 2/3 clinical study to treat severe respiratory compromise in patients afflicted with COVID-19. Biophytis is also developing Macuneos (BIO201), another oral small molecule intended for ophthalmic disorders such as dry age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and Stargardt disease. In a collaborative effort, Biophytis SA has partnered with AFM-Telethon specifically for the advancement of Sarconeos (BIO101) in the context of DMD treatment. Established in 2006, the company maintains its corporate headquarters in Paris, France.
