Clean Energy Fuels Corp.

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. offers natural gas as an eco-friendlier alternative fuel for commercial vehicle fleets, along with complete fueling infrastructure services, primarily across the United States and Canada. The company provides a variety of natural gas options, including sustainable renewable natural gas (RNG), compressed natural gas (CNG), and liquefied natural gas (LNG), specifically tailored for medium and heavy-duty transport. Their comprehensive services extend beyond just fuel supply to include the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of both public and private fleet customer fueling stations. They also distribute and maintain essential equipment, such as compressors, used in RNG production and at fueling facilities. Additionally, Clean Energy Fuels transports and sells CNG, RNG, and LNG through virtual natural gas pipelines. A key component of their business involves the trading of U.S. federal, state, and local government credits—such as Renewable Identification Numbers (RINs) and Low Carbon Fuel Standards (LCFS) credits—linked to RNG as a vehicle fuel, while also securing various governmental grants and incentives. The company is actively engaged in developing, owning, and operating projects that transform dairy and other livestock waste into RNG, further bolstering their renewable energy commitments. Their diverse clientele encompasses sectors like heavy-duty trucking, airports, waste collection, public transit, industrial users, and government fleets. As of December 31, 2021, Clean Energy Fuels supported roughly 1,000 fleet customers operating approximately 48,000 vehicles and managed a network of about 573 fueling stations spread across 42 U.S. states and Canada. Founded in 2001, the company is based in Newport Beach, California.
