About Boston Scientific Corporation
Boston Scientific Corporation operates as a global medical technology firm, specializing in the design, production, and worldwide distribution of innovative medical devices tailored for various interventional specialties. The company's operations are strategically divided into three principal segments: MedSurg, Rhythm and Neuro, and Cardiovascular. Through its MedSurg division, Boston Scientific provides critical diagnostic and therapeutic tools aimed at addressing conditions affecting the gastrointestinal and pulmonary systems, alongside a diverse portfolio of solutions for urological and pelvic health issues. The Rhythm and Neuro segment is dedicated to advanced cardiac rhythm management and neurological interventions. Its product offerings encompass implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) defibrillators, and pacemakers (including CRT pacemakers), all complemented by remote patient monitoring platforms. This segment also delivers sophisticated technologies for assessing and treating cardiac rate and rhythm irregularities, featuring solutions such as 3-D mapping and navigation systems, various ablation and diagnostic catheters, intracardiac ultrasound catheters, and related accessories. In the neurological domain, it furnishes spinal cord stimulator systems for managing chronic pain, indirect decompression systems, and deep brain stimulation systems. Boston Scientific's Cardiovascular segment presents an extensive array of products focused on heart and vascular health. This includes cutting-edge interventional cardiology solutions like drug-eluting coronary stent systems for treating coronary artery disease, as well as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) instruments designed to tackle atherosclerosis. The segment further provides intravascular catheter-directed ultrasound imaging and fractional flow reserve (FFR) devices, applicable in coronary arteries, heart chambers, and peripheral vessels, in addition to structural heart therapies. Beyond this, the company supplies stents, balloon catheters, wires, and atherectomy systems for arterial diseases; thrombectomy and acoustic pulse thrombolysis systems, wires, and stents for venous conditions; and a comprehensive suite of products for cancer treatment, including peripheral embolization devices, radioactive microspheres, various ablation systems (such as cryotherapy), and micro/drainage catheters. Established in 1979, the corporation maintains its headquarters in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
